Importance of Reading

Everyone has something or the other that keeps them fantasized. One of the most popular habits seen is the love for reading. Nothing beats the peacefulness of sitting in a couch reading through a book through the lazy afternoon! A good book provides one of the most relaxing yet enlightening pastimes.

Novels have us so engrossed in the plot line of the story that helps us connect with the characters involved and their emotions. Novels bring us a temporary escape from reality. On the other hand, factual books help us know about the realities of life and the world. Then, there are newspapers and journals that keep us updated about the latest happenings around the world. With so many segments of reading available ranging in fantasy, history, fiction, non-fiction, adventure and so much more, there is so much to learn from each one of them. Those that tell us facts increase our knowledge, while those that are based on fantasy expand our vocabulary and language. Thus, every book has its own impact.

If your child already has an obsession with books, it’s one of the greatest things! Don’t worry if he has no passion for toys. Books are going to bring him lots of benefits in the years to come. Reading will help him write creative essays and reports with different writing styles while he is at school. And when he grows older, the language that he has learnt all these years is going to take him places! Books are also a way to expose your child to differing viewpoints and gain new perspectives.

For those whose children are just not interested in books, you need to put in efforts right from a young age to instill that love for reading within your child – whatever kind of books may interest him. You can encourage your child to understand that just as food is important for his body, reading is essential for his mind. Reading will help him forget the worries of other things. GAFL, one of the bestschools in Vijayanagar, makes sure that every child goes to the library, picks up a book of his choice and takes his time to read, to instill love for reading.

Teaching Kids To Be Grateful Always

As adults, all we think of today is about earning more, getting a promotion, aiming for a new car, getting the best gadget around; and we never are satisfied with what we have. So, what’s wrong when our kids ask us for more toys, more clothes and more video games? What’s so wrong about our kids always asking us for more? When we adults are never satisfied and grateful to God for what we have, how can we expect our kids to do that? And then, we always complain about kids being too hard to satisfy, and kids being too stubborn about what they want. So ask yourself, “Who is the culprit?”

You always want your kids to be satisfied and grateful for what they have received from you, but unless you are thankful for what you have, they are never going to be. After all, it is from you that they learn the good and bad. When you teach your children to be thankful, you build a feeling of happiness, contentedness and a positive attitude towards life. Teach them to find and appreciate their blessings even in the midst of tough times. Sit with your kids and let them know all that you are grateful for, and ask them to tell you what they are thankful for too. Even in tough times, let them know what could be the silver lining behind the dark clouds of the situation, instead of cursing and mourning over what shouldn’t have happened. This is the only way you can have happy, peaceful and optimistic children.

At GAFL, one of the Best Schools in Vijayanagar, students are taught to understand the greatness of God and count the blessings that he has showered on them. Teachers take complete care of instilling positivity within the children, and so should parents, by building a positive environment within their homes, no matter what the situation.
